The Noormarkku ironworks rose to glory in 1870 when the Ahlström family came into possession. In addition to largely expanding the ironworks area, Antti Ahlström invested in the development of the entire town of Noormarkku. Thanks to him, the provision of schooling and road systems in the town area were significantly enhanced. The ironworks area has been carefully maintained and it is a significant site in terms of cultural history and architecture.
